I, the lone giant
Loom over the towers
And walls
And castles
That you have built.
Who are you to own me?
Who are you to command me to grow?
Who are you to dig me from the earth and move me
To a home that suits your desires?
I give you breath.
I give you shelter.
I give you food.
I provided for you, when the rest of nature said
Starve.
And now that you are strong,
And mighty,
My reward is being harvested
To extinction.
And still here I sit,
I, the lone giant,
Giving you,
My tender, helpless child,
My everything.
With my final breath,
I forgive you.
Loom over the towers
And walls
And castles
That you have built.
Who are you to own me?
Who are you to command me to grow?
Who are you to dig me from the earth and move me
To a home that suits your desires?
I give you breath.
I give you shelter.
I give you food.
I provided for you, when the rest of nature said
Starve.
And now that you are strong,
And mighty,
My reward is being harvested
To extinction.
And still here I sit,
I, the lone giant,
Giving you,
My tender, helpless child,
My everything.
With my final breath,
I forgive you.
